These are just a few of the places I went and things I did while in New York. There are so many cool things to do in New York but I hope this helps give you a few ideas. I didn't have much time for shopping but a few of my favorite NY shops are mirth vintage, Duonyc, shopthebreak, the vintage twin, and so many more. I hope you enjoy this little travel diary.
This is the air bnb that I stayed in. It was located in Bed Stuy and it was pretty close on a train to get to manhattan but it was also a nice quiet place to stay. The man who owned the air bnb (Paul) was so lovely. He was very helpful and when we arrived he had a loaf of bread and some muffins waiting in the kitchen that he had picked up from a bakery around the corner. I absolutely loved staying here. It also didn't hurt to be staying somewhere that was decorated so well. Here is the air bnb if you want somewhere to stay while in NY.
This is the first time I have ever modeled for a clothing company. The designer and creator of Two Fold Clothing reached out to me to model for the debut of her clothing line. I was super excited because I love learning about new, small, and ethical brands. Two Fold Clothing is an ethical brand made in the USA. Each clothing item Morgan created was hand made and she could explain to you every part of a plant that these fabrics were made from. The idea behind Two Fold Clothing is to promote an environmentally friendly closet. Clothes are a huge polluter to our environment so what Two Fold Clothing wanted to do was create 7 pieces that you could turn into many different outfits instead of buying new clothes every month.

These are just some photos that Jenn took of me for Garmentory which is where I got the Gray matters shoes I am wearing. These shoes are definitely my new favorite. They are simple yet so different than any shoe I own. The shape kind of reminds me of Celine (which is never ever a bad thing). I also love the contrast of the neutral camel color and the grey heel. I think when spending money on something more expensive it's smart to invest in shoes because you can be wearing the simplest outfit but if you have cool and unique shoes then your whole outfit looks better.

I have talked many times about how I use Instagram and Tumblr when I am looking for inspiration. Social media is the easiest and most accessible way to find inspiration because it is constantly filled with new ways of styling pieces. All you have to do is refresh your feed and you are consumed with hundreds of pictures of outfits. Although that is fine and dandy, sometimes it is nice to have something that you can touch and hold in your hands. Magazines are my outside of the internet inspiration. The magazines I have on this post give me color ideas, photography ideas, and styling ideas that I don't see on the internet. They are printed big and I love being able to hold them up close and examine every detail of them. Magazines hold a lot of the same purpose that the internet does, but sometimes it is just nice to open up a magazine without having to be consumed by social media. The Magazines I use most for inspiration are: Kinfolk Dazed The Gentlewoman Travel Almanac So It Goes
The main places that I go online to look for inspiration is Instagram and Tumblr. I know so many people who talk about how they screen shot photos of outfits that people post (on instagram or tumblr) because they love the way that person paired certain pieces together. That is the best part of fashion. You get to sample all the best parts of an outfit that you see on different people and try to recreate it yourself. So, I just wanted to take you through my thought process of how someone else's outfit inspired my own outfit. This photo is of one of my favorite fashion bloggers Courtney Trop and her blog is alwaysjudging. I was scrolling through her Instagram feed and ran across this beautiful camel colored suit that she posted. I was like "gosh, that is such a pretty suit" but I know it is something I could probably not afford so I thought what in my closet could I use to recreate a similar look. I first thought, okay I have these tan colored pixiemarket pants that I could use (they no longer have them in that color but here is the grey version). I then thought okay simple she is wearing a white t-shirt underneath I definitely have one of those. Then I was thinking on which jacket I had and this Arrivals Jacket worked perfectly. I loved how she mixed green into her outfit from her bag so I added this little vintage purse I got that is a greenish/teal color. Lastly, I added my Everlane shoes which were my last thought and I was just going simple so I just stuck with the camel/tan combo I had going on. Everyone gets inspiration from other people. It is super fun to use someone else's outfit to inspire your own because no matter how much you try to "copy" that outfit it will never look the same on any one person.

Video was filmed and edited by my lovely sister Molly. We had never filmed a video before this so we are kind of amateurs but we had fun making it. I hope you all enjoy it! Music: O Leaozinho by Jane Birkin & Caetano Veloso
Step one: I apply a drop of F.MILLER face oil to my cheeks, forehead, and chin. This oil gives my face a nice hydrated look all day (especially good in the winter) and it also helps keep my make up on. It has such a lovely sent and simple ingredients that don't leave your face feeling tight or irritated. It makes your face smooth and balanced. It also helps reduce redness and improves skin elasticity.
Step two: The highlighter! I absolutely love highlighters. I put them all over my face. On days when I don't feel like wearing much makeup I just put some highlighter on my cheeks and then I feel pretty and put together. I change up which highlighter I use on my cheeksbut recently I have been using the milk highlighter because I find it to go on easier than the glossier and it also isn't as sticky as the glossier. I like to put the glossier on my eyelids to give it a shimmer glossy look.
Step three: Brows! The most important part of the face. So for my brows I brush through them with a cleaned off mascara brush just to make them the shape I want. Then I go through my brows with the best product ever made which is the Glossier Boy Brow in brown. It makes my eyebrows stay in place all day as well as making them look a little bushier and dark.
Step four: Mascara! I swear by this product. I have been using Covergirl lash blast since middle school and I have never used any other kind because this one is the best. It has short rubber bristles which makes it so that it never clumps up on the brush. It also is very wide which makes it easier to apply without getting clumpy eyelashes. One of the best things about it is that it is only $8!
Step five: This step isn't necessary but I absolutely love Mario Badescu rose spray. I love the rose smell and how hydrating it makes my face feel. If you just need a mid day pick me up because you're feeling sleepy or dry then just spray this on your face and it helps wake you up. It also helps keep my highlighter on all day so that's a bonus! I wouldn't usually only post things on my blog that are on the more expensive side but christmas is usually about splurging. This list can give you ideas of things you might want to ask your boyfriend/girlfriend, parents, siblings, or yourself for. Christmas is the time to ask for the things you normally wouldn't ask for because they might be too expensive but it's christmas so why not. I say splurge on yourself at least once a year because you deserve it. If you have been saving up to buy something really nice for yourself why not do it around christmas time. It's the time of year that you have a holiday as an excuse to buy things for yourself and others. Disclaimer: These photos do not belong to me and I am not claiming them as my own.
I am loving this Lykke Wullf pinstriped jacket because it is easy to just throw on and give an outfit more structure and edge. Pairing a pinstriped jacket, blazer, or coat makes an outfit looks effortless yet still like you know what your doing with your outfit. I bought this sweater from an estate sale and it is the thickest wool sweater I have ever felt. It makes the sweater more structured which I really like and when (if) it gets cold it will be the most perfect sweater. The weather in Atlanta is very on and off. When I woke up it was freezing so I put on this sweater and then the weather warmed up to 80. I find October a really hard month to dress for properly. So, I chose to go with a thin white shirt underneath for when the weather warms up later in the day. It's all about the layers. At the moment I am loving a structured or well fit sweat shirt with a simple pair of trousers. I feel like that is a really great go to in the colder weather. You can also change it up by the belt you choose to style it with. A gold hardware gucci belt would look amazing, but I just stuck with a good old thrifted belt. (because let's be honest I can not afford a gucci belt.) This sweat shirt was found by a thrifting and vintage guru named Alia and she has an awesome Instagram called @courtyard_la. If you have a hard time finding stuff at your local thrift stores I highly recommend checking her Instagram out.

Okay, let's talk pants. These are my new favorite pants from a brand called Lykke Wullf. All of the clothing they carry is designed and sewn in LA. These pants specifically are made of canvas which is a new texture to my closet. I have no clothes that are made of canvas, but I absolutely love this material for pants because they keep their shape and don't wrinkle or crease at all. I also love how high waisted they are and that they actually fit me. I have a hard time finding pants that are high waisted and also fit my small frame. They can be dressed more feminine or they can be dressed more masculine (like a pair of dickies) with a graphic tee. They also make me feel confident and I know some women struggle with feeling attractive in wider legged pants, but when you find a pair that fit you really well they make you feel like a bad ass. Recently I have really been loving playing with harsh lighting to create extreme shadows. I feel like it gives the photos such a different feel than just posing in front of a wall that doesn't cast any shadows. For this outfit I put on one of my favorite summer tops(I am sad I wont be able to wear it soon because colder months are coming) by Ajaie Alaie. I paired the top with my H&M trousers that I bought last winter I believe and some burnt orange grandma shoes from Zara. I also just felt like posing with the Dazed magazine because it is such a cool magazine and it adds some more color to my not very colorful outfit. Bell Sleeve's are one of my favorite things to wear because it can be such a basic top like the one I am wearing that is just a blue and white striped blouse but the sleeves add a more feminine touch which on some days I really like. I feel as if bell sleeves make a very basic outfit a little more exciting which is what I look for in a lot of my outfits. Sometimes it is nice to just have a shirt that you can fall back on when you're feeling slightly uninspired or lazy but you still want to look good! If you're shopping on a budget like me it is nice to have basics that you know you can always wear and create into different outfits. This W Concept shirt is the perfect ribbed shirt for summer. When most people think of ribbed tops it is usually a sweater that you would wear in the winter but that is not the case anymore. You can now find ribbed tank tops which add such a cool look to a pair of denim shorts or high wasted jeans. This shirt is bringing back the polo and I am so okay with it. It is like the cool older brother of the OG polo shirt. Shirt: here Shoes: here Pant: H&M ( I believe they do not sell them anymore.)
Every summer has one "trend" piece that everyone joins in on and this summer it was definitely the basket purse. It gives a little quirkiness to any outfit and for the most part it goes with every outfit. This purse is a vintage find from birdsonewirevintage. If you head to your local vintage or thrift shop I am sure you will find at least one basket purse that you have to take home. I will admit my basket purse collection got a little out of hand this summer. I have also been digging all white outfits. When the weather reaches 97 degrees white can really help make you feel slightly more comfortable (if possible) in the heat. Also I haven't taken these loq shoes off all summer because they just add such a cool vibe to all my outfits Bag: Here Shoes: Here Top:Here Pants: Here
The weekends are my favorite which I am sure most people can relate with. You get to sleep in, hang out with your friends and family, and most importantly you get to go to brunch!! I usually go to brunch every saturday and sometimes even saturday and sunday because it is my favorite meal and Atlanta is filled with great places to enjoy a nice saturday (or sunday) brunch. The places I went this weekend were Bread & Butterfly which is a cute and quaint place to eat. It is also very photogenic so that is always a plus if you're someone like me who takes pictures of all of my meals. It also has delicious food and most of it is pretty light so you don't leave feeling full all day. The place I went to today is General Muir. It is pretty close to my house and it never disappoints. The food is delicious and the decor is on point. It is also a very easy place to take good food pictures because it is decorated perfectly and has great natural light. If any of you ever come to Atlanta those are two great places to enjoy a nice brunch. For outfits this weekend I styled two different button downs because they are easy to style and they are breathable which is good when it is 97 degrees out! For the checkered button down I button it up like it is an off the shoulder shirt and then I took the sleeves and tied them in knots around my arm. This is an easy way to give an old shirt a new look! Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. xx
Traveling to Italy was the first time I had ever traveled to Europe and it was one of the best experiences ever. If you get the chance to I encourage all of you to travel somewhere far away from home because it is so eye opening. Traveling is so inspiring because you realize how big the earth you live on is. It also puts everything into perspective because you know what is on the other side of the world from your home. You get to experience a different culture and different food. It is also fun to note all of the fashion differences of what the people of a different place wear and it can inspire you to bring the statements back to the place you live. All of the places I traveled to were Florence (which was my favorite city by far), Montepulciano, Venice (I was not a fan of venice but everyone has a different experience and it is worth seeing before it is totally underwater), Milan (Best vintage shopping), Rome, Sorrento (My favorite place of all time), and Capri. I hope you enjoy this travel diary as much as I do! xx
I do not normally wear printed fabric but this one is the perfect amount of pattern and color. I love that the colors are slightly faded of what they originally were. This is why I love vintage patterned clothes. When you go shopping and you find a patterned dress, skirt, or blouse sometimes it is hard to find ones with not so vibrant of colors, but if you shop vintage it is usually easier to find a nice faded worn in pattern. I am also really loving lighter shades of pink at the moment and this skirt is the most perfect shade of pink. So, if you are looking for patterned clothes but are a little afraid of all the colors try to look for more muted shades of colors or look for a vintage aged piece of clothing. During the summer I dress a little more simple than I do in the winter. The reason being, when it is super hot it is just easier to throw on a pair of shorts and a white t-shirt that will keep me cool. The best way to make the jean shorts white tee combo look best is finding perfect white tees with graphics on them. This way your outfit is a little more unique than just a plain shirt. So if you're looking for a little more pizazz in your simple summer day outfits find some unique white graphic t-shirts!
